Bright ideas with plants
We really like plants. They pull off the one big chemical reaction that keeps us all alive – photosynthesis. They also produce a massive array of other compounds that we humans have found uses for.
The chemists at Esse have used plants or bacteria as the source for all our products
- the actives that we use in our products have been extracted from plants that have developed these ingredients as ways to deal with the harsh conditions in the African bushveld
- our preservative system is produced by fermenting Radish roots with a bacterium that manufactures an anti-microbial peptide. Thanks Radishes.
- our emulsifiers come from fatty acids that are distilled from plant oils like olive and palm
- our fragrances come from whole essential oils that are distilled from flowers, bark and roots
If you think about it – that’s everything except water. That’s why we’re registered with the Vegan Society. It’s all plants.
